Franklin Templeton Recruits KKR Vet for New COO of Wealth Alternatives Role

Franklin Templeton has appointed George Stephan, who most recently headed up strategy and business development for KKR’s global client solutions business, to the newly created position of global COO of wealth management alternatives.

In the new role, Stephan will be responsible for innovating the firm’s alternative investments products and related investor services, also assisting on business development, management, and operations. He will also be charged with driving the distribution strategy and related advisor education for the alternatives business within Franklin Templeton’s private wealth channel.

Before heading up global client solutions, Stephan served as COO and head of investor relations for KKR’s global wealth solutions business in the Americas. Prior to his time at KKR, Stephan spent nine years in Morgan Stanley’s wealth management division.
