Buying third-party data is easy. Getting it into the systems your team actually uses is where most firms stall, with file transfers, ETL pipelines, and custom code standing between the purchase and the first query. For investment firms whose analytics teams already run on Snowflake, that build is wasted time.

Dakota Marketplace’s Snowflake integration removes it. Dakota’s 250,000+ allocator accounts and 386,000+ verified contacts arrive in your Snowflake account as a private share, installed in a few clicks and ready to query with the SQL your team already writes.

In this article, we’ll explain what the integration is, how a private share compares with a marketplace listing and the Dakota API, which teams it fits best, and how to get set up.

What Is a Snowflake Integration With Dakota Marketplace?

A Snowflake integration with Dakota Marketplace is a private data share that delivers Dakota’s allocator account and contact data directly into your firm’s Snowflake account. It runs on Snowflake’s native Private Sharing, so there is no file transfer, no pipeline to maintain, and no code to write.

Once installed, Dakota data shows up in your Snowflake account as its own database. Your team queries it like any other table:

  • Allocator account and contact data, scoped to the segments your firm cares about
  • Installed through Private Sharing, with no developers involved
  • View access, ready to query in SQL directly in Snowflake
  • Sits next to your own data, so it joins cleanly to your CRM and reporting tables

The Snowflake integration is “as easy as downloading Spotify onto your iPhone.” Your analysts can join Dakota’s allocator data to your CRM records and dashboards the same day the share goes live.

Private Share vs. Marketplace Listing vs. the Dakota API

Firms can get Dakota data into Snowflake three ways, and the private share is the only one that is both tailored and build-free.

Private Share

Marketplace Listing

Dakota API

What You Receive

A dataset scoped to your firm under an agreed scope

A predefined set of accounts, contacts, and records

Whatever your developers request and build for

Setup

Send a Sharing ID, mount a catalog

Install from the marketplace

Custom code built end to end

Developers Needed

No

No

Yes

Fits Your Use Case

Yes, by design

Maybe

Yes, if you build it

The tailoring matters. As Dakota’s team explained during our Databricks vs. Snowflake webinar, a firm that only cares about RIAs can receive just RIA accounts and contacts, and nothing else. The same private share model works on Databricks.

The API remains the right tool when you need to push Dakota data into an application your team is building. But if your reporting and analytics already run in Snowflake, a share drops the data into the environment you’ve built instead of asking you to build around the data.

Who the Snowflake Integration Is Built For

The Snowflake integration fits investment firms whose analytics, reporting, and business intelligence teams work in Snowflake. In Dakota’s webinar, CTO Priya Stanley put the split simply: Snowflake is for the analytics team, and Databricks is for the data science and engineering team.

Snowflake started as a data warehouse built for structured data, fast SQL, and BI dashboards. Dakota’s data is already structured and cleaned before it reaches you, which makes Snowflake a natural home for work like:

  • Fundraising dashboards and pipeline reporting that combine Dakota allocator data with your own CRM activity
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance, where portfolio managers, risk, and compliance teams work from one governed dataset
  • SQL-based research teams that want clean, accessible data without heavy engineering

Snowflake is also what Dakota hears about most. Rob Robertson, President of Dakota Marketplace, noted during the webinar that most of Dakota’s clients run on Snowflake, with Databricks also in the mix. Many of the largest firms use both platforms, and Dakota supports both, so the data can follow whichever team needs it.

How to Connect Dakota to Snowflake

Setup takes two steps on your side, with no pipelines to build.

  1. Send your Data Sharing Account Identifier. In Snowflake, go to Account, then View Account Details, and copy your Data Sharing Account Identifier. Send it to Dakota, and we’ll issue the Dakota application to your account.
  2. Install the Dakota share. In Snowflake, go to Data Sharing, then Private Sharing, and find the Dakota share under Direct Shares. Click Get data to install it. You’ll have view access to the shared data and can query it directly in Snowflake.

Frequently Asked Questions

What data does the Snowflake integration include?

Dakota’s allocator account and contact data, scoped to your firm through a private share. Dakota Marketplace covers 250,000+ allocator accounts and 386,000+ verified contacts, and your share can include all of it or only the segments you need.

Do I need developers to set it up?

No. You send Dakota your Data Sharing Account Identifier and install the share through Private Sharing. There is no ETL pipeline or custom code involved.

Can I try it before connecting our production environment?

Yes. Dakota can set up demo users in our own Snowflake instance, so your team can walk through the installation, see how the data appears, and test queries before connecting production.

Can I edit the Dakota data in my Snowflake account?

The shared data is view-only. Your team can query it, join it to your own tables, and write results to your own databases.

How is this different from the Dakota API?

The API requires developers to build and maintain custom code end to end. A Snowflake share places Dakota’s data directly inside the platform your team already uses.

Is Dakota data also available in Databricks?

Yes. Dakota offers the same private share model in Databricks, and many firms use both platforms.

Put Dakota Marketplace Data to Work in Snowflake

Dakota Marketplace’s 250,000+ allocator accounts and 386,000+ verified contacts can be live in your Snowflake account in two steps. Scope your share to the allocator types, geographies, and contacts your team targets, then query it next to your own fundraising data.
