The Southeast led October advisor transition activity, with Dakota tracking 27 moves totaling approximately $10B in disclosed client assets. The West recorded the second most moves at 18 ($5.5B), followed by the Northeast with 15 ($5.9B), the Midwest with 13 ($2.4B), and the Southwest with 12 ($4.6B). In total, Dakota tracked over 80 moves during the month representing approximately $28.32B in disclosed client assets.
The month’s headline move came from the Southwest, where Janney Montgomery Scott opened a new Houston, TX, office with the addition of the four-advisor Edwards Fitzpatrick Group from Raymond James, bringing nearly $3.5B in client assets. The second-largest transition came out of the Southeast, as CAPTRUST Financial Advisors added the 13-person Hoge-Barrett Group from Truist in Winston-Salem, NC, bringing more than $3B in client assets.
Raymond James was October’s most active recruiter by volume, adding ten teams across its employee, independent, and bank channels, totaling approximately $3.54B. The firm’s largest additions were two $700M teams, both from Truist: the Longwater Haffey Group in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Brown, Taylor, Shaw & Associates, which joined Pinnacle Asset Management in Naples, FL.
LPL Financial ranked second by volume with seven teams totaling approximately $3.8B – the largest combined asset total of any recruiting firm this month. Its biggest addition was the $1B Prince Financial Services team in Seattle, WA, from Northwestern Mutual – LPL’s second Northwestern Mutual team of the month, following the $525M Anchor Financial Partners group in Vinings, GA.
Elsewhere, CAPTRUST Financial Advisors added approximately $3.3B across two teams, headlined by the $3B Hoge-Barrett Group; Osaic added roughly $3.12B across three moves, including the $2.3B ICG next team from LPL; Ascentis Independent Advisors picked up four practices from Raymond James totaling just over $1B; and Rockefeller Global Family Office added approximately $2.25B across three teams, headlined by the $1.2B Kellam Group from Truist.
Outside of advisor moves, several firms reshuffled top wealth leadership in October. Truist reversed course on its plan to install Shimna Sameer as head of Truist Wealth, instead naming her chief consumer banking officer and installing Jeff Dunn and Bryan Cram as interim co-heads of the division. M&T Bank and its Wilmington Trust unit named Brian Green CIO, succeeding Tony Roth, who retires at year-end; Green joins from Glenmede Trust Co., where he was CIO of private wealth. LaSalle Investment Management tapped Michael Raso as global head of private wealth from PineBridge Investments, while Key Wealth brought in Wilmington Trust veteran Mike Keane as COO.
Elsewhere, Jupiter Wealth Advisors named Diego Würgler global CIO after 19 years at Julius Baer, marking the firm’s entry into Switzerland; Sowell Management named Scott Dooley CIO and launched its Office of the CIO; and Canada’s Nest Wealth appointed Sean Tascatan as chief investment and growth officer to lead a broader portfolio overhaul.
