You’ve built the perfect filter. Allocators in the right metro, the right AUM range, the right investment preferences. Now someone needs that list in Excel for a campaign, a territory review, or a meeting with your head of sales. Copying it row by row isn’t an option, and asking someone else to pull it eats half a day.

The Marketplace Accounts and Marketplace Contacts tabs in Dakota Marketplace for Salesforce have a one-click Export button built for exactly this. Here’s how it works.

In this article, we’ll be discussing how to filter, preview, and export your Marketplace search results to Excel, and how to make the process repeatable for your team.

Before You Export: What You’ll Need

You’ll need the Dakota Marketplace for Salesforce App installed in your org and access to the Marketplace Accounts or Marketplace Contacts tab. Both tabs load automatically when you open them, so there’s no need to click Search first.

The 7 Steps for Exporting in Marketplace for Salesforce

Step 1: Open the Right Tab

Open the Dakota Marketplace for Salesforce app from the app launcher. Choose Marketplace Accounts if you want a list of firms, or Marketplace Contacts if you want a list of people. The same export works on both.

Step 2: Filter Down to the List You Want

Use the filters at the top of the tab to narrow your results. Account type, AUM, metro area, country, and investment preferences are all available. Start with the segment your team actually works, rather than the full database, so the file you export is one people will use.

Step 3: Save the Filter as a Custom List View

If you’ll need this list again, save it. Custom list views let you save, rename, and pin your filters, and each view supports up to five filter fields plus filter logic. Our guide to using custom lists in your CRM covers how to build views your team will reuse. A saved view means next month’s export takes seconds instead of a rebuild.

Step 4: Review and Select Your Records

Scan the results to confirm the filter is returning what you expect. To work with a larger set, use Select All with Load More to pull additional records into the selection.

Step 5: Click Export

Click the Export button. The preview shows up to 500 records per page, with a Next Page button to move through additional pages, so large lists aren’t capped the way a single screen would be.

Step 6: Open the File in Excel

Your results download as an Excel file with the Dakota Reference ID included automatically. That ID matters: it’s the unique identifier for each record in Dakota Marketplace, so you can match your export back to the original records, or to your own Salesforce data, without guessing from names alone.

Step 7: Put the Export to Work

A few ways teams use exported lists:

  • Campaign targeting. Hand a filtered allocator list to marketing or outreach without anyone rebuilding the filter.
  • Territory reviews. Pull accounts by metro area and compare them to the accounts your team already covers.
  • Cleanup planning. Compare your export against your CRM, then use the mass linking wizard to connect the records you already have.

Tips for Cleaner Exports

  1. Filter before you export. A tight list is more useful than a big one.

  2. Save the view. Pin the filters you’ll use again.

  3. Keep the Dakota Reference ID column. It’s the safest way to match records later.

  4. Link before you create. If you plan to bring exported accounts into Salesforce, link existing records first so you don’t create duplicates.
