Every investment sales team has a version of the same problem. The research they need lives in one place, the contacts they’re calling live in another, and the CRM sits in the middle holding whatever someone had time to type in last month. Reps spend more time moving between tools than talking to allocators.

Version 4.0 of the Dakota Marketplace for Salesforce App is built to close that gap. It’s the biggest update since launch, and it brings private markets data, bulk record management, and territory planning tools directly into the Salesforce your team already uses.

In this article, we’ll be discussing the 10 biggest new features in 4.0, what each one does, and how your team can put it to work.

10 New Features in Dakota Marketplace for Salesforce 4.0

1. 11 New Search Tabs

Consultant Reviews, Pension Documents, Fund Presentations, Earnings Intelligence, Private Fund, Fund Launches, Hedge Fund Performance, Private Companies, Private Fund Performance, Alumni Network, and All Documents (a rename of the former Manager Presentations tab) now live inside Salesforce. Research that used to mean leaving your CRM is now a tab away. For a closer look at each dataset, see our rundown of the new searchable datasets.

2. Separate Marketplace Accounts and Marketplace Contacts Tabs

What used to be a single Marketplace Search tab is now two, and both load automatically when you open them. No more clicking Search before you see anything.

3. Custom List Views

Save, rename, pin, and delete your own filtered views on the Accounts and Contacts tabs and on the new search tabs. Each view supports up to five filter fields plus filter logic, so a target list you build once is there every time you log in.

4. One-Click Export

Send any filtered result set to Excel with the Dakota Reference ID included automatically. Exports show 500 records per page with pagination, so large lists are no longer capped.

5. Mass Link Wizard

A guided wizard links up to 5,000 contacts and their related accounts in a single pass, matching on name, phone, website, or CRD number for accounts, and email, last name, full name, or CRD number for contacts. If you’ve been putting off a cleanup project because the backlog looked too big, this is the fix. Our guide to linking existing records without creating duplicates walks through the matching logic.

6. Mass Unlink and Unlink Buttons

A matching mass unlink handles 2,000+ accounts at once if you need to reverse a bad match, and individual unlink buttons now sit directly on account and contact detail pages for one-off corrections.

7. Expanded Account Detail Pages

Roughly 18 new related lists now sit on the account record, including Consultant Reviews, Client Base, Allocations, 13F Filings, Investment Strategies, Fund Memos, Form D Filings, Private Fund Performance, and Earning Intelligence. New detail pages for Form D filings, private fund performance, fund memos, locations, city guides, and university alumni add depth behind each one. Call prep now covers regulatory filings and fund-level performance in the same view.

8. Nearby Accounts

A new component on account and contact detail pages shows which other accounts sit geographically close to the one you’re viewing, so a single confirmed meeting can anchor a full day of visits. We cover the workflow in how Nearby Accounts helps you plan smarter territory visits.

9. Dakota Recommends on the Metro Area Page

Hotels, restaurants, event spaces, and coffee shops by neighborhood now appear on the Metro Area detail page, on the same map as your accounts, along with a city guide. Learn more in our Top 10 Reasons to Use Dakota Recommends.

10. Broader Sync Coverage and Admin Controls

Client base, investors, fundraising news, Form D, performance, Form ADV, public company, university alumni, and location data now sync automatically, a new Hobbies field is available on contacts, and a new read-only permission set gives admins a simple way to give users view-only access.

Putting 4.0 to Work

The best way to start is small. Pick one saved list view you’d build anyway, run the mass linking wizard on the segment your team calls on most, and check the new related lists on your next call prep. Each feature is useful alone, but the real shift is that your CRM now holds the research, the contacts, and the trip planning in one place.
