HarbourVest Lands New CMO from PGIM, Adds Accounting Chief

HarbourVest Partners announced that it has recruited Raymond Ahn as chief marketing officer and Jon Thomas chief accounting officer.

Both Ahn and Thomas join as managing directors, with Ahn overseeing the firm’s brand across regions, client segments, and general partners and Thomas responsible for financial reporting, controllership, and operations. In a statement announcing the appointments, HarbourVest CEO John M. Toomey, Jr. said the new roles will enhance the firm’s ability to meet growing demand from institutional LPs and private wealth investors following the record $18.5B fundraise for its latest secondaries funds in August 2024.

Ahn has over three decades of experience in finance-related communications and marketing, most recently serving as global CMO for PGIM Investments. Prior to that, he held marketing leadership positions at firms such as Capital Group, ProShare Advisors, T. Rowe Price, and BlackRock, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Thomas has held a number of senior executive positions, most recently as CEO of Laurel Ag & Water, and his career includes stints in the financial planning and analysis team at KKR and as a senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
