CDPQ Taps Dame Sharon White As MD and Head of Europe

Quebecois public pension fund CDPQ has announced the appointment of Dame Sharon White as managing director and head of Europe, effective January 27, 2025.

White most recently served as chairman of the John Lewis Partnership from 2020 until September this year, having served prior as CEO of Ofcom, the UK’s media, telecoms, and postal regulator, for which she was awarded a damehood in 2020, and as second permanent secretary for HM Treasury, the economic and finance ministry in the UK.

In her new role, the British entrepreneur will be expected to work closely with asset managers and stakeholders in the UK, Europe, Montreal, and other CDPQ business regions to help in “developing CDPQ’s global capabilities” in Europe, particularly in the UK, the pension’s “largest investment destination outside of North America,” according to Marc-André Blanchard, executive vice president and head of CDPQ Global.

CDPQ said that as of June 30 it manages CAD 452B (~$323.48B) in total assets.
