Appia Capital Co-founders Join Ceres Partners to Lead PE Strategy

Nick Schupbach and Justin Lott, co-founders of agriculture and water investment firm Appia Capital Partners, have joined Ceres Partners to help lead the firm’s private equity strategy, including growth of its existing portfolio of food and agricultural investments.

Schupbach and Lott bring a combined 40 years of experience in the industry, with a shared tenure in the private equity and real assets team of global asset management firm Barings before founding Appia at the beginning of last year. Prior to Barings, Schupbach worked for over 10 years at Wood Creek Capital Management, most recently as senior vice president, while Lott similarly served a 10-year stint at BlackRock where he specialized in portfolio management for its alternatives program. Both are board members in several firms, with Schupbach holding board positions in multiple farmland and agricultural businesses, per his LinkedIn profile.

Schupbach will serve as a managing director and Lott a director at Ceres, joining Director Andrew Howell in the firm’s private equity investments team, which is responsible for providing strategy and driving portfolio growth in the firm’s investments across early to mid-stage food, agriculture, and water resource businesses in the US.
