Fundraising and raising capital is hard. Dakota makes it easier.

At Dakota, our mission is simple: make fundraising easier for investment sales teams. Dakota Marketplace is the only database built, used, and updated by fundraisers just like you, and we're constantly evolving it to help you spend less time researching and more time closing.

This October, we released updates focused on helping you measure, target, and prepare: a Benchmark Calculator for your fund’s performance, a new ETF homepage with Peer Tracker and ETF Wallet, a central Deliveries hub, and expanded Alumni Network pages.

Top New Features Added to Dakota Marketplace in October

1. Benchmark Calculator

The new Benchmark Calculator, found under the Performance & Benchmarking tab, lets you compare your fund against Dakota’s private fund benchmarks. Select a Vintage Year, an Asset Class, and an optional Sub-Asset Class, then enter your fund’s Net IRR and/or TVPI. Marketplace shows where you rank among peers, your quartile placement, Dakota’s benchmark median, and the difference between your fund and that median.

Click “View the peer funds in this benchmark” to see the funds behind the calculation. You can search, filter, and export those records to Excel, and you can print the results to PDF for presentations and reporting.

Fund managers no longer have to gather peer data and calculate rankings by hand. You see your quartile in seconds, and the visible peer group shows exactly who you’re being compared against, which supports a more credible performance conversation with allocators. Coming next: optional Sector and Industry filters, a reset button, and an FAQ covering methodology.

2. ETF Homepage, ETF Peer Tracker, and ETF Wallet

ETF distribution teams now have two new ways to find and prepare for opportunities. To turn on the new homepage, go to My Profile, then Homepage View, then Enable ETF Homepage.

  • ETF Peer Tracker: Enter the ETFs you want to track (QQQ, for example) and see accounts with 13F holdings in ETFs within the same asset class and sub-asset class. Results focus on accounts with new or increasing exposure, and show account name, account type, similar ETF, investment status, position value, and date added. Click through to the underlying investment record for more detail.
  • ETF Wallet: On account pages with 13F investment data, an interactive chart breaks an account’s ETF holdings down by Asset Class, Sub-Asset Class, or Ticker. Click any segment to see the underlying ETF investments, including fund balance, number of shares, and filing date.

The Peer Tracker points you to prospects already investing in similar ETFs, especially those adding exposure. The Wallet gives you a full picture of an account’s ETF portfolio before a meeting, without sorting through individual 13F holdings. Both reduce research time and make outreach more targeted.

3. Deliveries Hub

A new Deliveries section under My Profile brings your scheduled report subscriptions and scheduled PDFs into one place. You can view, edit, send, and cancel every scheduled delivery from a single page.

Need a scheduled PDF sooner? Send it immediately. Want to change the timing on an existing report or PDF? Edit the schedule at any time. You can also unsubscribe from reports or cancel scheduled PDFs directly from the page. Building on the report subscriptions and scheduled PDFs we released in September, Deliveries makes it easier to stay organized and keep meeting prep on track.

4. Alumni Network Enhancements

University Alumni record pages now include more context for finding and planning outreach:

  • Related Endowment: See and navigate directly to the endowment associated with a university.
  • Dakota Recommends: View nearby restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, and event spaces.
  • Nearby Accounts: An interactive map and list view show other firms around a university.

Endowment account pages also have a new Associated Universities related list, showing each university or school tied to that endowment, along with its metro area and total number of contacts. Click into any university’s Alumni page to explore its network.

These changes connect universities, endowments, and alumni across firms, so you can see who sits near a campus and plan meetings and travel around it.

Other Releases

October also brought upgrades to filtering, sorting, 13F data, and watchlists:

  • Sort Any Column: Every column across all tabs can now be sorted by clicking the column header, so you can order AUM from least to greatest or greatest to least wherever it appears. A few fields can’t be sorted because of how they’re stored, such as multi-select picklists, long text fields, and some fields built after the main query.
  • Pension Watchlist: The Manager Watchlist, which shows the managers and products pensions have placed on watch, is now the Pension Watchlist. The default list is All Pension Watchlist Entries, the top-bar Fund Balance filter has been replaced with Asset Class and Sub-Asset Class, General Consultant and Field Consultants are available in Select Fields, and Public Plan Minute is a default column.
  • New 13F Fields: Portfolio % Weight, Holding Duration, and Filing Period are live for all users. TAMP is now a field on the 13F Holdings tab, Sub-Asset Class is a column on 13F Holdings related lists, and 13F export limits increased from 500 to 2,000 rows.
  • More Ways to Filter: Insurance Segments and Geographic Interest are now available as additional filters on the Account tab, VC FOF is a filter on the Investment Allocators Accounts tab, and Contact: Continent is a filter on the Contacts tab.
  • Private Fund Performance: The related list on account pages was redesigned to show quartile rankings against the Dakota Benchmark for the asset class and vintage year, with a toggle between TVPI and Net IRR. It lists each unique strategy with its most recent performance record, and clicking a strategy name opens the full history.
  • Fee Terms: Fee data now lives in a new Fee Term object, with an Investment Fee Terms sub-tab under Investments that links to source PDFs.

See What These Features Can Do for Your Team

These updates were built in response to what fundraisers told us they needed most. Every October release was designed to remove a specific point of friction, whether that’s benchmarking your fund in seconds, finding ETF prospects, or keeping meeting prep on schedule. And we’re just getting started, with Upload a List Phase 2, new filters on Metro Area pages, and Company Alumni already in development.
