Family office direct investment activity is one of the most consequential capital flows in private markets and one of the hardest to track.
Dakota Marketplace solves that by sourcing, verifying, and standardizing transaction data across thousands of family offices globally, so fund managers can see where conviction is actually moving.
In August 2026, Dakota tracked 60 direct investments worldwide totaling $10.1B in disclosed transaction value. Crosstown Capital Partners, LLC was the most active family office by disclosed deals, claiming three transactions during the month.
The list below ranks the month's most significant transactions by deal size, sourced from Dakota Marketplace's family office investment data.
DFO Management, the family office of Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell, partnered with Sequence Holdings to take The Baldwin Group private in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $7.7B, including about $3.1B of net debt. Baldwin is an independent insurance distributor serving more than three million clients, and shareholders will receive $32.50 per share, an 88% premium to its unaffected price. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2027, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment agreed to buy a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno at a reported $4B valuation, which would set a new MLB record for a franchise sale. The holding company already owns the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids, and Arsenal F.C. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to Major League Baseball approval.
Hillspire, the family office of Eric Schmidt, participated in Mistral’s €3B Series D at a post-money valuation of more than €21B, the largest equity round ever completed by a European technology company. Samsung Electronics led the round, joined by EQT’s Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity. Mistral builds open-weight models and the infrastructure to run them, and it supports more than 125 global enterprises, including Airbus, ASML, and HSBC.
Shamal Holding participated in The Boring Company’s $3B Series D at a $23B valuation, a round led by the United Arab Emirates and affiliated investment entities. The funding builds on the company’s Dubai Loop pilot with the city’s Roads and Transport Authority and will support more than 150 kilometers of additional tunnel across the UAE. Its Vegas Loop has carried more than four million passengers, and proceeds will go toward hiring and scaling Loop projects in Las Vegas, Nashville, and Dubai.
Euclidean Capital, an investor in Actio Biosciences, saw the company acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals in a deal valued at $1.32B, including $820M upfront. Actio’s lead program, ABS-1230, is an oral KCNT1 inhibitor for KCNT1-related epilepsy that showed meaningful seizure reductions in children in an early clinical trial. It has received FDA Fast Track, Rare Pediatric Disease, and Orphan Drug designations. The acquisition closed on September 15, 2026, and Actio’s other programs were spun out into a new private company funded by existing investors.
Dakota Marketplace tracks direct investment activity from family offices across every sector in this list, with deal-level detail on stage, round size, co-investors, and portfolio companies. Premji Invest, the family office of Wipro founder Azim Premji, joined Alpha Wave Global, Temasek, and BlackRock managed funds in a consortium investing approximately $1B (₹9,825 crore) of primary equity in Adani Airport Holdings. The deal values the operator, one of India’s largest private airport companies, at a pre-money equity valuation of about $18B. Proceeds will fund airport expansion, mixed-use “Airport City” developments, and non-aeronautical businesses such as ground handling, with the final tranche expected by July 2027.
Jim Clark, the founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape, co-led Positron AI’s $875M Series C financing at a $5B post-money valuation, alongside NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, and Dylan Patel’s SemiAnalysis Capital. Positron builds memory-first AI inference systems on commodity LPDDR5X memory, and it is deploying more than 50 racks of its first-generation Atlas system at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The funding will cover the tapeout of its next-generation Asimov silicon and the production ramp of its Titan inference system.
Duquesne Family Office, the family office participated in Fab2’s $500M Series A at a $3.7B valuation. Fab2, the semiconductor manufacturing startup formerly known as Atomic Semi, is building modular, repeatable chip fabs and automating novel process engineering. Fundomo led the round, with participation from Protagonist, Naval Ravikant, Corner Capital, Paradigm, Maverick Silicon, StepStone Group, and UDC Ventures.
Joyoung Family Office participated in D-Robotics’ $400M Series C, which drew strategic investment from a leading global internet company alongside existing shareholders. D-Robotics provides robotics development infrastructure, and its Sunrise chips have shipped more than 8 million units cumulatively. The funding will expand the Sunrise chip portfolio and build a software platform covering the full robot development chain, from mature categories to general-purpose humanoids.
Premji Invest, the family office of Wipro founder Azim Premji, participated as an existing investor in Enveda’s $311M Series E, a round led by Catalio Capital Management with new investment from Durable Capital Partners, ICONIQ, Lightspeed, and Surveyor Capital. Enveda uses its AI platform PRISM to discover oral medicines from molecules found in nature, and it now has three medicines in clinical trials, two with positive early readouts in 2026. The funding will advance ENV-294 for atopic dermatitis and ENV-308 for metabolic health into later-stage trials. It also brings the company’s total capital raised to more than $845M.
Family office direct investments happen largely outside public view. There is no mandatory disclosure, no regulatory filing, no database built by a government body. What family offices do with their capital has historically been invisible to the fund managers trying to reach them.
Dakota Marketplace's family office investment data changes that.
Every record reflects an actual transaction that closed, not a survey response about investment intentions. What family offices do with their capital is more reliable than what they say about it, and Dakota tracks the former. The database is continuously updated as new transactions are identified and verified by Dakota's research team, so your market view always reflects current activity. Filter by sector, stage, deal size, geography, or co-investor to identify the family offices already deploying capital in your strategy.
