The Northeast saw the most January advisor transitions with 21 moves totaling at least $11.6B in disclosed client assets, followed by the Midwest with 15 moves ($6.0B). The Southeast posted nine moves and the West had eight, totaling $4.6B and $3.3B, respectively, while the Southwest saw six moves ($3.0B).

One of the month’s biggest recruitments came in New York, where Sapient Capital added a $3B JPMorgan Private Bank advisor, Sarah White. The Midwest also produced a standout transition, as Moto Wealth Partners – a $2B former Fifth Third Private Bank team in Cincinnati and Dayton, OH – joined LPL Financial’s Linsco platform.

Wells Fargo was January’s leading recruiter by both moves and assets, adding eight teams totaling more than $7.2B in disclosed client assets. Among its biggest pickups was Infinity Private Wealth, a $1.8B former Merrill Lynch team in Melville, NY, as well as KBK Wealth Management, a $1.3B New York-based team leaving Commonwealth/LPL. RBC Wealth Management was also highly active, recruiting five teams totaling $3.1B, including The Thomasco Group ($646M) in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and a $770M UBS team in Syracuse, NY.

Raymond James remained one of the most consistent recruiters, picking up seven teams totaling $2.1B, including an $800M Denver, CO-based group joining from RBC and a $420M Fort Worth team departing Commonwealth/LPL.

Outside of advisor moves, January’s notable people news included Goldman Sachs naming John Mallory and Nishi Somaiya as global co-heads of wealth management, Collaborative Capital Advisors hiring former Wealthspire CIO Michael Moriarty for the same role, and Charles Schwab appointing Tyler Woulfe CEO of Charles Schwab Bank.
