Fundraising and raising capital is hard. Dakota makes it easier.

You know your firm’s data better than anyone. But until now, the only ways to get something fixed were to drop an anonymous comment on a record or reach out to your CSM, who then had to pass it along to the data team. Both work, but both put a middle step between you and the fix.

In this article, we’ll walk through how the Submit Data Center in Dakota Marketplace lets you send updates straight to Dakota’s Data team, and how to use it to keep your firm’s profile and performance data accurate.

What the Submit Data Center Actually Does

The Submit Data Center gives you a single, self-service place in Marketplace to send Dakota updates to your own firm’s information, with no email to your CSM required. You’ll find it under My Profile, and it offers two paths:

  1. Submit Firm Data: keep your firm’s Marketplace profile up to date with company and organizational information, investment criteria and firm details, and new and updated contact information.

  2. Submit Performance: send new or updated fund performance data (Net IRR, TVPI, DPI, Vintage Year, Strategy AUM, and As of Date) to improve Dakota Benchmarking coverage. This option is also available directly from the Performance and Benchmarking tabs.

Each form opens in a new tab. Once you submit, Dakota’s Data team reviews the information, and if it’s approved, the update is reflected in Marketplace. What you send in goes through the same quality check as the rest of the data, so you get the speed of self-service without giving up accuracy.

4 Use Cases for Submitting Data Center With Dakota Marketplace

Use It to Correct Your Firm’s Profile at the Source

An out-of-date strategy tag, new contact details, or an adjustment to your portfolio details shouldn’t require a back-and-forth. One team needed the strategy and asset class tag on their profile corrected, and used Submit Data to send in the right strategy, AUM, and product details themselves rather than waiting on someone to relay the request. Because the request goes through a purpose-built form, the details arrive structured and complete the first time.

Use It to Keep Your Account Page Current

Outdated information on your own firm’s page is a quiet problem. Prospects and allocators see it, and it can shape their first impression of you. One user asked about updating outdated information on their firm’s account page, and Submit Firm Data was the immediate answer: a simple self-service way to keep their own profile current without opening a support conversation. Making a quick check of your firm’s page part of a regular routine, especially after new hires, strategy changes, or contact updates, keeps it reflecting what you actually run today.

Use It to Get Your Performance Into Benchmarking

The more managers who submit performance directly, the stronger and more current the benchmarking data gets for everyone who uses it. With a fund close approaching, one manager saw Submit Data as the easy way to get performance in front of Dakota’s benchmarking. He plans to send the same performance file he already provides to other data providers through the portal, then confirm it was received and updated. If you already maintain a performance file for other platforms, submitting it here takes very little extra work.

Use It During Account Reviews

Reviewing your fund data with your Dakota team is a natural moment to make updates. One team, walking through their fund data during a business review, learned that Submit Data was the way to keep it current themselves, so their profile reflects the strategies they run today instead of whatever was last on file. If you have a review on the calendar, bring your latest strategy and performance details and submit them right away.

Send Your Next Update Straight to the Data Team

If something on your firm’s profile is stale, or you have new performance to share, you don’t need to wait on anyone. Open the Submit Data Center under My Profile, choose Submit Firm Data or Submit Performance, and send the details through.
