Greg Leonberger is the Director of Research for Marquette Associates. Greg is responsible for creating the firm’s capital markets research and directing the investment strategies and policy. He also serves as the chair of the investment committee. A partner of the employee-owned firm, Greg has been with the company since 2008.
Greg joins us at Dakota Live! to take us through Marquette Associates’ manager research process and how to approach the firm and their clients with private markets through fixed income investments and what they look for in asset management partners. Marquette was founded thirty-seven years ago with the sole objective of providing investment consulting at the highest caliber of client service. As of March 31, 2023, the firm is advising over $351 billion in assets with over 400 clients and 135 employees.

Greg Leonberger is the director of research and a managing partner for Marquette Associates. An owner of the firm, Greg has been with the company since 2008 and has 24 years of investment experience. He leads the firm’s capital markets research and directs investment strategies and policies. He chairs the firm’s investment committee and also serves on the operations, OCIO, healthcare, defined contribution, and endowment and foundation committees. He has authored numerous papers on portfolio strategy, asset allocation, and liability driven investing, and regularly consults with clients on these topics.
Prior to joining Marquette, Greg was an actuarial consultant at Hewitt Associates for nine years where he consulted on all aspects of pension and postretirement welfare plans, including funding, accounting, strategy, design, and regulatory compliance.
Greg holds a B.S. in mathematics and economics from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. with honors in analytic finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Greg is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an enrolled actuary, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
