Andy Spellar, Chief Investment Officer for the Fairfax County Employees' Retirement System shares his journey over his two decades for the $5.0 billion Plan located in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Andy started with Fairfax County in June 1998 as a Senior Investment Manager and has been an important aspect of the Plan’s innovative and insightful approach to asset allocation and manager selection over his successful career.

Andrew Spellar is chief investment officer for the USD4 billion Fairfax County Employees’ Retirement System located in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Andrew oversees all aspects of the DB plan’s investment portfolio, and has worked previously for Parametric Portfolio Associates, GIT Investment Funds and as an independent registered investment advisor. Andrew holds an MBA from Marymount University and BA’s in history and European studies from George Mason University, Virginia.
