Spanish PE Buenavista Raises €100M at First Close of Healthcare Fund

Spanish private equity group Buenavista Partners announced the €100M close of its BV Healthcare Growth Innvierte I, a joint venture with specialist biotech venture capital firm Columbus Venture Partners.

Buenavista said the fund, which has a €150m hard cap, will continue raising commitments, and has received a commitment of €58m from a co-investment vehicle of Spain’s Centre for Technological Development and Innovation.

Buenavista and Columbus will jointly manage the fund, which achieved its initial target size, through a newly formed fund management firm specifically for the fund. The Madrid-based firms have made a combined 45 investments within the healthcare sector, and the new fund has already closed its first deal with Singoi, a company specializing in synthetic DNA for advanced therapies.

The fund will seek to invest approximately €15M each in 10 to 12 pharmaceutical, biotech products, medical equipment, and digital therapies and diagnostics companies based in Spain.
