Report: Merrill Nabs NYC Metro Advisors from UBS, Morgan Stanley

Merrill Lynch has recruited Franco Di Maio from UBS and Alexander Van de Leur from Morgan Stanley, with each advisor bringing approximately $130M in client assets, FinancialAdvisorIQ reported January 27.

Prior to joining Merrill, Paramus, NJ-based Di Maio spent 16 years at UBS where he was a senior vice president and portfolio manager, reportedly producing approximately $1M in annual revenue. According to his LinkedIn profile, he began his career in wealth management at Merrill in 2000 and worked in the private client group for nearly nine years. He will be joining Paramus & Associates and report directly to market executive James Cadet.

Alexander Van de Leur was at Morgan Stanley for over a decade, most recently as an advisor and portfolio management director, according to his LinkedIn profile. He began his career in investment banking at JP Morgan in 1996 before moving into fundraising at N.A.C.T. and then shifting to financial advisory at UBS in 2005. He will operate from Merrill’s 5th Avenue office, reporting to senior market executive Dominick Taneo.
