Serial RIA acquirer Merchant Investment Management has appointed former Blue Owl Capital and Carlyle Group executive Matt McPeak as managing director and partner while also parting ways with Jupiter, FL-based boutique wealth M&A advisor Alaris Acquisitions, according to CityWire reports.
The firm recruited McPeak to focus on acquisitions and debt solutions. He will work with Merchant partner firms on organic and strategic growth opportunities, spearheading underwriting of private market investments for companies in Merchant’s portfolio. Prior to joining Merchant, McPeak headed the RIA and family office team at Blue Owl and before that worked in Carlyle’s private wealth team.
McPeak’s recruitment coincides with news that the firm has ended its partnership with Alaris, with Alaris CEO Allen Darby telling CityWire the firms parted ways amicably around midyear. Merchant bought a minority stake in Alaris back in 2021.
