Private equity firm Shore Capital Partners is said to be pursuing its first investment in the RIA space, according to a February 7 report by Citywire, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.
Sources told the publication that the firm has participated in banker-led auctions of wealth management businesses. Shore Capital’s Brad Morehead and Mickey Jiang are reportedly leading the firm's efforts to find an RIA acquisition target, and Morehead told Citywire the firm is interested in creating partnerships with RIA operators as it looks to build a new wealth platform.
Shore Capital Partners is led by Justin Ishbia, who along with his brother owns the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. The firm has historically prioritized healthcare investments. On October 9, Dakota reported that Shore Capital Partners has closed a $1.9B fundraise across three funds – first timers Healthcare Advantage Fund and Shore Search Partners Fund, along with its Business Services Partners Fund II, taking its total assets under management to $9.1B.
