Piper Sandler Companies announced the appointment of Matt Somma as a managing director in its financial services group, where he will advise asset and wealth management firms on M&A and capital raises as well as family offices on strategic alternatives.
Somma will report to Bill Burgess and Scott Clark, co-heads of investment banking in the financial services group in the firm’s New York office. He brings nearly 20 years of experience in family office investment banking and RIA acquisitions.
Somma joins from Truist Securities, where he served as a managing director overseeing family office investment banking coverage. Prior to that he was a co-founder of RIA serial acquirer Cresset Capital and before that covered family offices at JP Morgan, where he helped architect a private ventures program providing family offices with access to early stage and growth equity investments.
