Indian early-stage venture capital firm Rukam Capital is targeting an international capital raise in an attempt to capitalize on “a very attractive time to enter the Indian market,” according to founder and Managing Partner Archana Jahagirdar.
Jahagirdar said the country is boosting its efforts to attract foreign investment through regulatory and government support, on top of opportunities in the “early-stage funding gap” that the venture capital investors can tap into within India’s fast-growing consumer economy.
The firm specializes in VC funds that provide capital and strategic support to Indian startups. Its current portfolio consists of 14 companies in the consumer sectors, with another two tech firms under its Rukam Sitara affiliate platform.
