Creative Planning Acquires $550M Kansas RIA Edmonds Duncan

Creative Planning announced the acquisition of Lawrence, KS-based Edmonds Duncan Registered Investment Advisors, adding $550M in client assets and marking the firm’s ninth acquisition since the beginning of 2023.

Founded in 2013, Edmonds Duncan adds a staff of six to Creative Planning, lead by partners Jason Edmonds and Don Duncan. Financial terms and conditions of the deal, which closed on October 1, were not disclosed. Richard Tischler of RiezmanBerger served as legal counsel to Edmonds Duncan on the sale.

Creative Planning is backed by General Atlantic and, more recently, TPG, which on September 30 took an undisclosed stake in the $375B Overland Park, KS-based RIA.
