BMO Family Office Research Head Departs, Seeks CIO Post

John Banker, who was managing director and head of investment research for BMO Family Office, has left the firm and is seeking new opportunities in a chief investment officer role.

Banker disclosed in a LinkedIn post that he departed BMO Family Office in October after nearly two decades. He began his career in 2001 as a senior research analyst at Kobren before joining BMO in February 2005 as director of traditional research, eventually moving up to a managing director position in June 2016. During his tenure at the firm, he specialized in servicing a client base of UHNW and HNW individuals and families, with experience in manager selection, asset allocation, and risk management, particularly related to alternative investments.

To date, BMO has not announced a replacement lead to its investment research team. The family office oversees approximately $6B in total AUM, according to the latest Dakota data.
