Fundraising and raising capital is hard. Dakota makes it easier.

At Dakota, our mission is simple: make fundraising easier for investment sales teams. Dakota Marketplace is the only database built, used, and updated by fundraisers just like you, and we're constantly evolving it to help you spend less time researching and more time closing.

This September, we released a wave of updates focused on getting the right information to you without the legwork: report subscriptions, scheduled PDF delivery, advanced 13F fields, contact filtering, Excel export across more of the platform, and new Outlook reporting.

Top New Features Added to Dakota Marketplace in September

1. Print to PDF: Scheduled Delivery

We enhanced Print to PDF on Account pages so you can email a PDF straight to yourself. Choose Send Now and it arrives in your inbox within seconds, or choose Schedule for Later and pick the exact date and time you want it delivered. The Download PDF option is still there if you'd rather save it to your computer.

This is built for meeting prep. Schedule the report once, and the latest account information is waiting in your inbox when you need it, with no need to remember to generate it beforehand.

2. Dakota Joe Export Functionality

Dakota Joe can now export to Excel for any user with export functionality. Export was the most requested non-report-building task, so it was the natural next step. Joe also now ships download links for 13F and Performance list views, and he's been trained on LP/GP terminology and Tamp fields. Coming soon: uploading a list via Joe, answering non-data questions such as renewal dates and CRM integration status, and rerouting requests.

3. Advanced 13F Fields

Four new fields give you a deeper view of how firms invest in ETFs and how their positions are changing:

  • ETF AUM: the total of a firm's most recent fund balance across all of its ETF holdings.
  • ETF AUM %: that ETF AUM figure as a percentage of the firm's total AUM.
  • Status: whether a position decreased, stayed the same, or increased compared to the previous quarter's filing.
  • Previous Quarter Value: the holding value from the prior quarter's filing, shown next to the current value for easy comparison.

Customers asked for these fields because they want to target RIAs that invest heavily in ETFs. Status and previous quarter value also show growing or shrinking appetite for particular asset classes. Anyone selling ETFs to RIAs will find value here, and product teams weighing Active ETFs as an alternative to mutual funds or other actively managed strategies can use the data in their research and development. We also added Create a List and My Lists to the 13F tab, so you can build and save your own custom 13F lists.

4. Subscribe to Report

Users can now schedule any Marketplace report to land in their inbox on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, directly from the report page. Weekly subscriptions support multiple days of the week, and every email includes a direct link back to the report in Marketplace so you can jump straight into the latest data. Subscriptions can be updated or removed at any time.

Fundraisers rely on a handful of reports every day, whether that's a pipeline, a watchlist, or a saved search. Instead of navigating to the same places each morning, you can automate delivery of the information that matters most and spend that time on outreach.

Other Releases

Beyond the headline features, September also brought a set of quality-of-life upgrades that make day-to-day work in Dakota Marketplace faster. You'll find cleaner Form ADV reporting, quicker contact searches, wider export options, and tighter connections to the tools your team already uses:

  • Most Recent Form ADV Field: Because Marketplace and Salesforce now house past Form ADVs, a report on an account could return every filing the firm ever made. A new "Most Recent" checkbox on Form ADV details solves that. Run an Account with Form ADV report, select Most Recent Form ADV: True, and see only the latest filing for each account. The field updates automatically as new ADVs are filed.
  • Contact Related List Filters: Contact related lists on Account pages now have top-row filters for Name, Job Title, Asset Class Coverage, Contact Type, Metro Area, and College. Whether you're looking for a CIO covering Private Credit, contacts in a specific metro, or alumni from a particular school, you can narrow hundreds of contacts without leaving the page. Dropdowns only show values that exist in that list, so every selection returns results. This is Phase 1, covering Contacts, FA Contacts, DC Advisor Contacts, Research Contacts, Retirement Contacts, and Consultant Contacts, with more related lists to follow.
  • Export to Excel Expansion: Export to Excel is now available on the Private Companies tab, the 13F tab, and every Contact related list.
  • Outlook Reporting and Account Page Activity: Synced Outlook activity now appears on the Account page under Outlook Recent Interactions. The new "Email Messages" report type (filter Source = Outlook) is also live for all users, so you can report on your synced email activity.
  • My Lists for Data Integrations: Users of our Data Integrations (HubSpot, Dynamo, Dynamics, Satuit, DealCloud, and Backstop) can now filter Accounts and Contacts and save those filters as lists directly in the Data Integrations tab, so you build a filter set once and revisit it in a few clicks.

See What These Features Can Do for Your Team

These updates were built in direct response to what fundraisers told us they needed most. Every September release was designed to remove a specific point of friction, whether that's automating the reports you check every day, getting meeting prep delivered on schedule, or finding the right contact in seconds. And we're just getting started, with more updates to Dakota Joe, benchmarking, and platform integrations already in development.
