Below are the top 10 energy transactions.
Magnolia Oil & Gas will acquire WildFire Energy for approximately $4.06 billion, more than doubling its Giddings acreage to over 1.25 million net acres and creating a dominant Eagle Ford/Austin Chalk position in South Texas. The deal, funded via stock, assumed debt, and new financing, is expected to be immediately accretive to key metrics and supports a 9% dividend increase, with closing expected late Q3 2026.
Matador Resources will acquire Paloma Permian from EnCap for $1.275 billion in cash, adding 16,235 net acres and roughly 11,100 BOE/day of production in Southeast New Mexico's Delaware Basin, while also acquiring Woodford acreage from Ridge Runner (another EnCap company) to build a contiguous ~50,000-net-acre Woodford position at about $4,000 per acre. The moves, paired with strong early results from Matador's Rae's Creek Woodford exploration well (2,200+ BOE/day, 72% oil), bring the company's total Delaware Basin footprint to roughly 240,000 net acres, funded through cash on hand and RBL credit facility borrowings.
The Private Department of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan has committed $1.13 billion to MidOcean Energy, an EIG-managed LNG company with assets across Canada, Australia, and Latin America, marking its entry into the global LNG sector. Alongside the investment, the two parties formed a strategic partnership to pursue capital aggregation and energy infrastructure opportunities across the UAE and regional markets.
Greenfire Resources will acquire Connacher Oil and Gas, owner of the Great Divide oil sands project adjacent to Greenfire's Hangingstone assets, for approximately C$1.277 billion in cash. The combined entity will produce roughly 34,000 Bbl/d with 850 MMBbl of proved plus probable reserves and target $30 million in annual synergies, funded through an upsized reserves-based loan, a bridge facility, and a rights offering backstopped by Waterous Energy Fund, with closing expected in August 2026.
Valmet has completed its acquisition of Severn Group—comprising Severn Glocon, ValvTechnologies, and LB Bentley—from private equity firm Bluewater for $480 million on a cash- and debt-free basis.
