Washington State Plans $300M Investment in GTCR Buyout Funds

The Washington State Investment Board is moving to make investments of up to $300M in two GTCR private equity funds, per materials related to its upcoming November 21 board meeting provided to Dakota.

Pending consideration by the board, the pension is looking to allocate $200M to GTCR Strategic Growth Fund II and another $100M to middle-market buyout strategy GTCR Capital Solutions Fund. Once approved, it would be the tenth vintage year that the Washington State board has made investments in a GTCR fund, having committed a total of $2.4B since 1999 to GTCR across its buyout, mezzanine, and growth strategies. Most recently, the board allocated $650M to GTCR Fund XIV, the 2023 generation of the buyout fund series, which closed with $11.5B on May 23 last year. 

Per Dakota data, the Washington State board oversees plan assets valued at approximately $202.8B.
