Report: BlackRock in Talks to Buy Stake in $70B Hedge Fund Millennium

Alternative investment manager Millennium Management is said to be in the early stages of discussions involving the potential sale of a minority stake to BlackRock, according to a November 7 Bloomberg report citing anonymous sources.

The potential deal would mark a first for Israel, “Izzy” Englander’s firm, which has traditionally acquired interests in smaller hedge funds, in selling a stake to an outside investor. Per the unnamed sources, the talks are in early stages and could fall through.

According to its website, Millennium oversees $70.2B in assets and houses over 5,900 employees across more than 140 locations.
