RayJay Recruits $5B Utah Advisor Duo from Zions Direct

Raymond James announced that it has recruited advisors Scott Burnett and Peter Kelson from Zions Direct, where they managed over $5B in client assets, to its Raymond James Advisor Select channel, where they will operate out of the firm’s Cottonwood Heights, UT, office.

Burnett and Kelson will report directly to Salt Lake City branch manager Scott Hunter. Burnett joins Wells as managing director and Kelson as fixed income portfolio manager. Burnett boasts 42 years of experience, and prior to joining Raymond James spent 18 years at Zions and before that five years at Wells Fargo. He began his career in 1982 at Lehman Brothers. Kelson began his career with Fidelity Investments in 1998 and spent nearly seven years as a fixed income portfolio manager with Zions.

The move adds to the inroads Raymond James has made in the Utah market at the expense of Zions, as it also poached a $1B team from the LPL-affiliated Zions in September.
