HSBC announced the completion of the next stage of an ongoing global reorganization, with global private banking and wealth CEO Annabel Spring a casualty.
Barry O’Byrne will continue on as CEO of the bank’s wealth and personal banking businesses, with leadership of Spring’s global private banking and wealth remit now split between Gabriel Castello as interim CEO of global private banking and Lavanya Chari as head of wealth and premier solutions. Castello will also continue in his current role as CEO of HSBC’s Swiss private bank and head of private banking in EMEA until a permanent replacement can be recruited.
As part of the reorganization, HSBC also said it is creating a new role of chief commercial officer for international wealth and premier banking, based in Hong Kong, and has begun a recruitment process to fill the position.
