Focus Financial Partners announced the addition of a former LPL litigation head as its new general counsel, as well as the promotion of three key members within its legal team.

According to an October 28 press release, Greg Woods will join Focus to direct legal operations for the RIA after a 12-year tenure at LPL Financial, where he most recently served as head of litigation, regulatory affairs, and corporate law. Prior to LPL, he also held roles as general counsel and corporate secretary for Cognition Financial (formerly First Marblehead). Effective November 19, Woods will replace Russell McGranahan, who exited Focus on October 23.

Additionally, the firm announced three promotions, effective immediately, within its legal department: Anil Abraham as chief risk officer; Amrita Nangiana as co-head of corporate legal; and Adam Karasik as co-head of corporate legal. All three will take on the elevated roles alongside their current responsibilities, with Nangiana and Karasik specializing in the RIA’s strategic M&A activity.
