Dutch Pension ABP Buys €2.7B Mortgage Portfolio from NIBC

Netherlands-based pension fund ABP said that it has acquired a €2.7B portfolio from NIBC consisting of mortgages made in the last five years to more than 10,000 Dutch households.

With the acquisition, ABP said its Dutch mortgage portfolio has grown to €7.3B, adding that it views the space as “interesting, because mortgages have a long term and therefore yield an attractive return.” Approximately a quarter of the portfolio represents mortgages with an “energy label A,” as the pension said it seeks “to make sustainability an important part of the Dutch mortgage market.”
