Overview
West Paces Advisors has its origins in the mid-1980s when John Viani and John Oglesby, alongside Phil Larkins (Emeritus), led the Wealth Management Group of Bank South. Their experience as investment professionals in a bank trust department instilled a fiduciary mindset that remains central to the firm's ethos three decades later. In 1996, the trio established Legacy South, a Registered Investment Advisor dedicated to serving affluent families' investment and legacy planning needs. Utilizing Charles Schwab's institutional custody platform, Legacy South provided tailored wealth management solutions with a strong focus on exceptional service. By 2003, the firm merged with the Northern Trust Company to leverage Northern's fiduciary and private banking capabilities, welcoming Andrew Crews to the team. Over the ensuing 12 years, they played a pivotal role in establishing Northern Trust as a significant player in the Atlanta market. However, the constraints of being tied to a corporate entity led them to seek greater flexibility in delivering customized solutions to clients. After Phil's retirement in 2013, John, John, and Andrew crafted a business plan to return to their roots as independent financial advisors, culminating in the founding of West Paces Advisors in the summer of 2015. With the addition of Geoff Gober, Ryan Floyd, and Andrea Thompson, the team boasts over 140 years of combined experience in generational wealth management. Operating on Charles Schwab Bank's institutional custody platform and collaborating with independent trust companies, West Paces Advisors provides clients with a comprehensive range of investment advisory, private banking, and legacy planning services.
