Overview
Sand Hill Global Advisors has about $3 billion and caters towards typically high-net-worth individuals. They are based in Palo Alto, California. Recently, they acquired Integral Financial, an RIA based in San Francisco. Mark Strahs is a co-CIO. He leads up most of their front-end due diligence for strategies. He is supported by a handful of portfolio associates, which is what they call them at Sand Hill. In their portfolios they run an internal core, large cap growth strategy. It is mostly passive, but they will favor some active managers in domestic small cap, international EM and liquid and illiquid alternatives. One thing to point out. Mark mentioned that they have recently favored some of the larger brand names because, unfortunately, they have been burned by a few of the smaller kind of boutique funds with style drift and some integrity things over the years. They are starting to dip their toe back into some of the smaller niche funds but typically won't get into the strategy until there is about $500 million in the mutual fund.
They do run a core, large cap strategy internally, mostly passive. But they do favor active management as they go down cap in domestic small cap.
And as they extend into more of the international markets and EM, liquid alts and private investments would be another source of demand within Sand Hill Global Advisors. Hao Dong and George Angelopoulos would be good points of contacts as analysts on the team.
