CIBC is a $84 billion + private wealth management firm with offices across the country. CIBC has acquired a number of firms over the years including Atlantic Trust, The Private Bank and Geneva. Client assets are invested across asset classes in both internal proprietary strategies, stocks, bonds and select external managers. They prefer truly active, differentiated strategies that they can access in both SMA and mutual fund form. They will also invest in PE and HF although private LP investments represent a smaller percentage of overall firm assets. They do create risk rated models using their proprietary strategies and select list of external managers. Of their assets under management approximately 30% of assets are managed by external managers.
