Overview
Brown Advisory is an independent investment management and strategic advisory firm committed to delivering a combination of first-class performance, strategic advice and the highest level of client service with offices in Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Delaware, Frankfurt, London, New York, North Carolina, San Francisco, Singapore, Southern California, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The firm’s institutional and private clients are based in 50 states and more than 44 countries and territories and are served by over 800 colleagues worldwide, all of whom are equity owners of the firm.
Brown Advisory is a $148 billion wealth and investment management firm headquartered in Baltimore with offices across the country. The firm serves institutions, endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals. The average high net worth client is approximately $20 million. Brown Advisory also has an asset management division that manages its own strategies utilized internally and externally. This is the old Meritage. They have some internal strategies but this was originally the family office for one of the founding CFOs of Dell Computer. So for those that are on the Brown Advisory platform, reaching out to what is now Brown Advisory, formerly Meritage, would be a good meeting in Austin.
For external managers they have what's called the Investment Solutions Group. There's a number of individuals in New York City, namely Jordan Wruble, who leads the manager of research effort.
A few other analysts-- Amar Patel, Shane Ransom, Eric Levin-- all sit in New York City covering hedge funds and public equity strategies which would be, for the hedge fund side, potentially fund of funds or approved list. And then for long-only strategies, would be an approved list opportunity. Most of the illiquid assets-- private equity, et cetera-- is covered outside of New York. That would be in Baltimore or the Chapel Hill office.
