The Northeast led May advisor transitions with 23 moves totaling approximately $17.5B in disclosed client assets. The Southeast followed with 19 moves totaling about $3.68B, then the Midwest with 17 moves totaling roughly $3.3B, the West with 12 moves totaling approximately $3.69B, and the Southwest with seven moves totaling about $3.2B. Three additional moves spanned multiple/other regions, representing approximately $1.1B in combined client assets.
The month's headline move came from the Northeast, where The Taylor Group in New York relocated from Morgan Stanley to Wells Fargo Advisors, bringing $5.94B in client assets.
LPL Financial emerged as the month's most active recruiter by volume, adding 12 teams across multiple regions representing about $6.5B in disclosed client assets. Its largest additions included the $1B Cebert Wealth Advisors in Florida, $870M True Compass Advisors in Connecticut, $850M City Square Wealth Management in Massachusetts, $815M Emerald Wealth Management in Washington, and $775M Capital Investment Services in Georgia.
Raymond James followed closely behind by volume and assets, adding $5.56B in AUM across 10 teams. Its biggest addition was the $2.8B, Bedford, NH-based Financial Strategies Retirement Partners team from Commonwealth Financial Network. Wells Fargo and Rockefeller Global Family Office were also among the top recruiters, adding about $5B in assets across 5 teams, and $3.35B across 4 teams, respectively.
Outside of advisor moves, May's notable people news included Ken Stern being named co-CEO of Lido Advisors, Marc Costantini being appointed CEO of Equitable, and Mark Pearson transitioning to executive chair of Equitable Holdings. The month also saw several CIO appointments, including Scott Lavelle at Diversified, Frank Brochin at Fiduciary Trust Company, and Ben Connard at Carnegie Investment Counsel, along with Michael Childs joining Arkadios Capital as head of its private wealth platform and Michael Swinehart joining Coastal Wealth as head of wealth management and financial planning.
