Taking chances gets talked about like it means quitting your job or selling your house.
That's not taking chances. That's stupidity.
Real risk is doing the thing your brain is actively trying to stop you from doing. The big idea you've been sitting on. The thing you keep telling yourself you're not ready for. All the stuff your brain invents reasons to avoid.
The fear of getting made fun of. Of failing publicly. Of not being good enough. Your brain is very creative when it doesn't want to move.
Here's the fastest way I've found to get through it: book the date. Send the deposit. Commit before you feel ready.
The moment something is on the calendar with money attached to it, your brain shifts. It stops asking "should I?" and starts asking "how do I?" That's the state you want to be in.
And imposter syndrome? It never goes away. I still feel it. I've written three books, built a company for almost 20 years, and I still have moments where I wonder if I belong in the room.
But I have too many people relying on me to let that stop me.
So I put one foot in front of the other. And I keep going.
That's all taking chances really is.
