Vanguard has announced the establishment of an advice and wealth management division to be led by former Fidelity Investments wealth and personal investing executive Joanna Rotenberg, and has made a series of additional changes within its leadership team.
Rotenberg will take on the role of managing director for the new division. She most recently served as president of Fidelity Wealth but left after just two months, having previously served as president of Fidelity’s personal investing business for over two years. Prior to that, she served as group head of BMO Wealth Management for five years and was with BMO for over 11 years in total. Rotenberg will join Vanguard in her new role in January 2025.
Alongside Rotenberg’s addition, Vanguard announced three other changes within its senior leadership team: current managing director of the Institutional Investor Group John James has been promoted to head of the firm’s workplace and advisor solutions; managing director and CHRO Lauren Valente will be head of the institutional investor group; and Jon Couture will join this month, formerly from Principal Financial Group where he served as CHRO, to take on Valente’s previous roles.
