Report: Schroders to Close Private Debt Business in Australia

British asset manager Schroders is closing its private debt business in Australia, Bloomberg News reported December 18, citing Schroders Australia CEO and CIO Simon Doyle.

In an emailed statement to Bloomberg, Doyle said the group believes the efforts of its private assets team are better redirected toward other areas, considering the "increasingly competitive" Australian private debt market. With the closure of the business, Schroders Australia will continue to focus on direct real estate lending, alternative credit, asset-backed finance and private equity.
