Report: Amundi in Talks to Acquire Allianz Global Investors

Paris-based Amundi has held on-and-off discussions with Allianz regarding a potential purchase of the German insurer's asset manager Allianz Global Investors (AGI), Bloomberg reported December 4, citing people familiar with the matter.

The unnamed sources said the talks have been going on for several months, adding that the parties are considering a variety of options, including an outright sale of AGI, a deal in which Allianz would retain a material stake, or even some form of a joint venture. They told Bloomberg it is possible a deal could be announced before Allianz reports financial results for 2024 in February of next year.

Amid the discussions with Amundi, Allianz has also reportedly held preliminary talks with Deutsche Bank on the possible merger of AGI with the German lender's asset management arm, DWS Group, according to Bloomberg.
