It is an annual, independent recognition of Financial Advisors who demonstrate scale, consistency, and the fundamentals of a well-run advisory practice. The rankings are informed by data, not sponsorships or commercial influence.
There is no cost, sponsorship, or paid placement associated with inclusion.
The Dakota 500 is designed to highlight Financial Advisors who may or may not appear on legacy ranking lists, but who are building meaningful, high-quality practices today.
Rather than relying on nominations or marketing submissions, the Dakota 500 is informed by:
Advisor- and firm-level data
Practice scale and structure
Client composition
Consistency of the advisory business over time
The goal is to reflect the breadth and depth of the advisor community across states and regions.
Dakota maintains one of the most comprehensive Financial Advisor datasets in the industry. To ensure accuracy and context, a select group of advisors are invited to complete a brief survey to help inform the current year’s list.

Is used to produce aggregated insights, not individual disclosures

Final inclusion in the Dakota 500 is determined by Dakota’s independent analysis.
