Below are the top 10 consumer discretionary transactions.
Somnigroup International announced a definitive agreement to acquire Leggett & Platt for approximately $2.5 billion in an all-stock transaction at 0.1455 Somnigroup shares per LEG share, integrating its longtime bedding component supplier in a vertical integration play. The combination creates a global bedding and components platform with $11.2 billion in 2025 net sales and $1.7 billion in adjusted EBITDA across 175 manufacturing facilities in 36 countries, with $50 million in expected run-rate synergies and closing anticipated by year-end 2026.
Abu Dhabi-based DIAFA completed a majority acquisition of Richard Caring's hospitality portfolio for at least £1 billion (~$1.3 billion), adding London's most recognizable dining and private members club brands — including The Ivy Brasseries, Scott's, Sexy Fish, Noema, Annabel's, and Harry's Bar — to its UAE luxury hospitality platform. The deal accelerates DIAFA's international expansion, including a planned Annabel's New York opening, with Caring continuing as executive chairman and former LVMH Asia chairman Ravi Thakran appointed group CEO.
Nippon Express Holdings (NX Group) entered into an agreement to acquire Metro Supply Chain from LDC Metro Holdings and La Caisse for up to CAD 2.2 billion (~$1.6 billion), adding a Canadian logistics provider with approximately 9,000 employees and 22.5 million square feet across 190 sites in North America and the UK. The acquisition expands NX Group's global logistics network across 57 countries while preserving Metro Supply Chain's Montreal headquarters and management team, with closing expected in the coming months.
Unilever announced the acquisition of Grüns for approximately $1.2 billion, adding the rapidly growing greens supplement brand — known for its gummy-bear-shaped nutritional supplements that ship approximately 10 million units daily — to its portfolio. Founded by Chad Janis in 2023, Grüns has become one of the wellness sector's largest exits in the past decade, with the acquisition expanding Unilever's footprint in the high-growth functional nutrition category.
One Rock Capital Partners is backing the merger of Eat Happy and Hana Group SAS, supported by a €750 million (~$867 million) debt financing package from Deutsche Bank, RBC Capital Markets, and UniCredit — comprising a €650 million term loan and €100 million revolving credit facility. The combination unites Eat Happy's Asian food operations with Hana Group's European sushi supply business, creating a platform for fresh Asian convenience food across Europe.
Slate Auto, the American EV startup developing an affordable customizable pickup truck, closed a $650 million Series C funding round led by TWG Global. The capital will support Slate's first vehicle deliveries in late 2026 — with the mid-$20,000 Slate Truck having already accumulated over 160,000 reservations — and complete reindustrialization of its Warsaw, Indiana factory, expected to create over 2,000 jobs and require nearly $400 million in investment.
Smart Share Global (Energy Monster) completed its going-private transaction with a consortium led by Trustar Mobile Charging Holdings and Energy Monster management for approximately $327 million in equity value ($1.25 per ADS), closing in April 2026 at a 74.8% premium to the pre-announcement share price. The deal takes private a Chinese mobile device charging service provider that operates 9.6 million power banks across more than 1.27 million points-of-interest in 2,200+ Chinese counties.
Nippon Seiki agreed to acquire Toyodenso Co. Ltd from Koide Kokan, Honda Motor, and other shareholders for ¥49.9 billion (~$330 million), with the full purchase price to be financed through borrowing from financial institutions. The acquisition consolidates two Japanese automotive component suppliers and includes Honda Motor among the divesting shareholders, with closing expected on October 1, 2026.
Uber agreed to acquire a 4.5% stake (13.6 million shares) in Delivery Hero from Prosus for €20.00 per share, generating approximately €270 million (~$290 million) for Prosus and representing a 22% premium to Delivery Hero's 1-month VWAP. The transaction advances Prosus' commitments to the European Commission to reduce its Delivery Hero shareholding following its August 2025 Just Eat Takeaway.com acquisition, while expanding Uber's strategic position in European food delivery.
Arçelik agreed to sell its 60% stake in Arçelik Hitachi Home Appliances to Hitachi Global Life Solutions for approximately $261 million ($205 million cash at closing plus $56 million in deferred payments over three years), exiting the joint venture formed in 2020. The transaction transfers 12 subsidiaries — including manufacturing plants and R&D centers in China and Thailand — to Hitachi, with completion subject to regulatory approvals and Hitachi's planned restructuring with retail partner Nojima Corporation expected within 12 months.
