BlueOrchard announced on February 6 that its second climate insurance private equity fund has reached its $100M target.
The impact investment manager said InsuResilience Investment Fund II achieved its goal in December 2024, thanks to support from investors that include British International Investment, the Nordic Development Fund, and the European Investment Bank, as well as institutional investors such as Schroders Group funds and an unnamed European reinsurer.
The fund is already 60% deployed, having committed capital into seven climate insurance investment opportunities. BlueOrchard said the new fund will follow the same strategy used by its predecessor to leverage technology and make climate insurance more affordable and accessible. The fund's portfolio includes Brazilian crop insurance firm Newe, Asian insurance solutions provider Igloo, and African crop insurance product developer Pula.
