Fundraising is hard. Dakota makes it easier.

At Dakota, our mission is simple: make fundraising easier for investment sales teams. Dakota Marketplace is the only database built, used, and updated by fundraisers just like you — and we’re constantly evolving it to help you spend less time digging and more time closing.

This January, we released a handful of powerful features that let you take action faster, gain deeper insight, and get answers in real time… all without leaving the platform.

In this article, we’ll review the top new features added to Dakota Marketplace. By the end of this, you’ll have a better understanding of how these can help you with fundraising.

1. Dakota Joe: AI-Powered Report Builder

Dakota Joe is now open for prompting immediately, without having to click an icon or wait for it to load. Users can simply type a prompt and press enter to get started. This update removes an extra step and keeps the interface simpler, allowing users to see and use Joe right away.

Dakota Joe lets you build custom, presentation‑ready reports in plain English… covering Accounts, Contacts, Investments, and Dakota Recommends data without filters, queries, or formulas.

Need a list of new RIAs investing in real estate over the past 12 months? Or want to match investors with their committed funds, then export for your next pitch deck? Just ask Joe. He crunches the data, applies your filters, and delivers a clean, structured report all in seconds, right inside Dakota Marketplace.

All generated reports are automatically saved, shared, and organized in your company’s Reports folder, making collaboration simple and ensuring no insights get lost. You can edit filters, adjust columns, re‑run reports as conditions change. Soon you’ll even be able to schedule recurring, automated reports.

Because Joe lives fully within Dakota Marketplace, all data stays secure and compliant. Meaning no external exports and no extra tools are required.

2. Homepage Following Feed

The new Following Feed gives users a personalized snapshot of what matters most the moment they log into Dakota Marketplace. It highlights updates across the Accounts, Contacts, and Metro Areas they actively follow.

Built directly from customer feedback, the feed eliminates unnecessary navigation and keeps key activity front and center – so users can identify opportunities faster and act with greater confidence.

3. AI Account Summaries

AI Account Summaries are now available for Public Pension Funds and Banks in Dakota Marketplace, building on the AI insights already used for Family Offices and RIAs.

These summaries surface the most critical information at the top of each account page, giving users instant context without digging through multiple data sources.

  • Public Pension Funds: Fund size and mandate, asset allocation, investment appetite, and key investment and research leaders
  • Banks: Technology and digital platforms, private wealth capabilities, and key contacts and decision makers

All summaries are fully exportable, making them easy to share internally or drop directly into meeting prep materials.

The result: less prep time, better conversations, and sharper focus on the right opportunities… before you ever pick up the phone.

Additional Marketplace Enhancements Released in January

In addition to the headline releases, we rolled out several usability improvements designed to reduce friction and speed up everyday workflows in Dakota Marketplace.

List views now show an exact record count at the top of the page, so users can instantly see the true size of their universe, no more “100+” guessing or scrolling to the bottom. This is especially helpful when evaluating custom lists and sub-tabs before taking action.

We also enhanced the Reports tab with dropdown navigation, giving users quick access to recently used reports, all reports, folders, and their firm’s Dakota Joe reports. Instead of hunting through the left panel, users can jump straight back into their work.

See What These Features Can Do for Your Team

Fundraising will never be easy. But with the right tools, it doesn’t have to be so hard.

These new features were built in direct response to what fundraisers told us they needed most: simpler outreach, smarter benchmarking, and faster insights. And we’re just getting started.
