UoM Investment Office Discloses Three Alternative Investments

The University of Michigan Investment Office approved three investments within the alternative investment portfolio, according to the documents from the March meeting.

It was recommended that $10 million be committed to Colosseum One Master LP (Colosseum), a venture capital firm focused on early-stage digital assets and blockchain companies.

Also approved, 1% of the Long Term Portfolio to the Michigan Climate Solutions Fund (“MCSF”) strategy. The strategy is focused on making direct investments to companies and strategic investors with aligning decarbonization goals.

$50 million was allocated to a Sandglass-sponsored investment, a London, based manager that invests in stressed and distressed emerging market assets. This pre-existing partnership creates the opportunity for Michigan to commit to follow-on investments with Sandglass Capital Management.

As of June 30, 2023, the University Endowment Fund was valued at $17.9 billion.
