NY State CRF Ups ESG Exposure, Adding $1B to BlackRock Climate Change Strategy

The New York State Common Retirement Fund (NY State CRF) recently allocated a total of $1.75B across seven managers, with $1B going to a BlackRock ESG fund that adds to an initial $1B commitment made in July.

According to its recently published August Monthly Transaction Report, the NY State CRF made a $1B commitment in international equities to the BlackRock MSCI Climate Change Index. This commitment is in addition to the $1B previously allocated in July. 

In real estate, the pension allocated $300M to Principal Data Center Growth & Income Fund and $400M to Carlyle Realty Partners X. In private equity, it allocated $150M to Insight Partners Opportunities Fund II and $200M to Empire Co-Invest III. Within private credit, $300M was allocated to the Warburg Pincus Capital Solutions Founders Fund and $400M to Domain Excelsior Fund. 

Finally, as part of the CRF’s emerging manager program, it allocated $10M to Matter European Residential Platform through the Empire GCM RE Anchor Fund LP/GCM Grosvenor.

Per Dakota data, the NY State CRF oversees approximately $267.7B in assets.
