Goldman Forms Capital Solutions Group to Boost Private Credit Presence

Goldman Sachs announced the creation of a new business in an effort to streamline its operations in delivering private credit and private equity services to clients.

The Capital Solutions Group will consolidate Goldman’s capabilities in financing, origination, and risk management solutions in global banking and markets, originally covered by the Financing Group, Investment Banking, and FICC and Equities units. The new group will include an “alternatives origination group” that will focus on sourcing investment grade credit, leveraged loans, real estate, infrastructure, other asset-backed finance and private equity deals.

Capital Solutions Group will be jointly led by Pete Lyon, global head of the Financial Institutions Group and the Financial and Strategic Investors Group, and Mahesh Saireddy, global head of Mortgages and Structured Products, both of whom will join Goldman’s management committee. Meanwhile, the firm said it has also appointed global head of the Financing Group Vivek Bantwal as co-head of global private credit in its Asset & Wealth Management unit, alongside global head of direct lending James Reynolds, to oversee the firm’s $145B private credit business.

The reorganization aligns with the “One Goldman Sachs” strategy that the firm said will allow it to “provide clients with access to differentiated sourcing and investing capabilities across opportunities in private credit and private equity.”
