The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) is approving the issuance of an RFP for a general investment consultant to be selected in March, according to materials related to its January 8 board session.
The search will be conducted as the contract between CalSTRS and its current consultant Meketa is set to expire on June 30. The finalist may receive consulting contracts by July 1, for either a fixed three-year period, a five-year period, or a five-year period comprising a three-year contract and two one-year extension options.
Meketa has consulted for CalSTRS since 2013, when it served as co-consultant while Pension Consulting Alliance served as lead consultant. In 2018, Meketa was selected as general consultant following another RFP issued by the $345B California pension.
