Penn Municipal Selects Int'l Large-Cap Manager, Narrows US Small-Cap Search

The Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System (PMRS) board made progress on its manager searches, including the selection of Silchester for its international value asset management RFP and the narrowing of the US small-cap search pool.

According to minutes from the board’s September 19 meeting provided to Dakota by the pension, the international value equity manager search was narrowed down to two finalists, Boston Partners and Silchester. After a unanimous vote, Silchester was selected for the manager role due to its greater diversification, concentration of resources, and steady performance, the board said.

PMRS also assisted on the US small-cap manager search, which has been narrowed to six firms: Emerald Advisers, Congress Asset management, Driehaus Capital Management, GW&K Investment Management, Wasatch Global Investors, and Westfield Capital Management.

Marquette and PMRS assisted on both searches.

According to Dakota data, the PMRS has approximately $3.42B in managed assets.
