Illinois TRS Shares $1.6 Billion in New Commitments

The Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois recently disclosed investment commitments that were made during June and July totaling up to $1.6 billion.

$75 million was committed to Baring Asia Private Equity Fund III, with an additional $25 million committed to Baring Asia Private Equity Fund VIII-Annex A. 

Growth equity fund, Bregal Sagemount IV-B was given a $100 million commitment. 

$60 million was split evenly between two Craft Ventures funds, Craft Ventures IV and Craft Ventures Growth II. 

$15 million was committed to FinTech Collective Opportunity Fund I, managed by venture capital firm FinTech Collective out of NYC. 

$10 million was committed to Insight Partners Vision Capital II, a growth equity fund. 

Growth equity fund, Leeds Illuminate I, was given a $35 million commitment. 

$75 million was split equally to three venture capital funds managed by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Those funds are Lightspeed Venture Partners XIV, Lightspeed Partners Select V, and Lightspeed Opportunity Fund II. 

Buyout fund, Silver Lake Partners VII, was given a $150 million commitment.

Growth equity fund, Sunstone Partners III, was given a $75 million commitment. 

Growth equity fund, TDR Capital V, was given a $130 million commitment. 

As part of the Retirement System’s emerging manager program, $10 million was committed to venture capital fund MaC Venture Capital II, and $50 million was committed to buyout fund, New MainStream Fund IV.

In the real estate portfolio, $200 million was committed to value-added fund, EQT Exeter Industrial Value Fund VI.

As part of the System’s Global Income Portfolio, $150 million was committed to distressed credit fund, Sixth Street TSSP Adjacent Opportunities, and $500 million was committed to direct lending fund SLR 1818 managed by SLR Capital. 

According to the $64 billion Retirement System’s annual report, StepStone assists as the private equity and real estate investment consultant, Aksia serves as diversifying strategies and private debt consultant, and RVK is used for general investment consulting.
