Barings Raises $1.22B for Real Estate Debt Income Fund

Barings said it has so far secured investment commitments totaling $1.22B from 25 investors for its Real Estate Debt Income Fund.

The disclosure was made in an amended January 2 filing with the SEC for the fund, which the global asset manager launched in January 2021. Among the fund’s investors is the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, which pledged $150M in 2023, according to Dakota data.

Barings' real estate debt strategy involves investing in loans secured by commercial real estate in North America and Europe. The strategy accounts for $23.41B of the total assets that Barings managed as of September 30, 2024.
